OUTREACH PROGRAMS
The Outreach Committee hosts the "Introduction to Judaism" led
by Rabbi Wendy Spears. The Outreach committee will be offering the enrichment
activities to accompany this course, which is a trip to: Skirbal Museum, Mt.
Sinai Memorial Park in Simi Valley, the Mikveh at the University of Judaism,
accompany the students to Shabbat Services at various locations, including TAE,
a cooking class prior to Passover, and a Shabbat Dinner at the conclusion of
the class. The class will take place on Thursday evenings, beginning October
14th, 2004, from 7pm to 9pm. This is an 18-week class. Register by calling
Beverly Ross at 818/907-8740. Additional information is available on the web at
www.uahc-psw.org, and click on Introduction to Judaism.
The Intro students who are interested in conversion or who are considering
conversion are invited to attend the "New Beginnings" class
that is a 4-6 session class that gives them an opportunity to explore feelings,
problems, and concerns surrounding conversion. This is led by our trained
Outreach Fellow, Lisa Bock, and will begin on dates to be announced at the
conclusion of the Introduction to Judaism class.
An additional opportunity that is new this year is "Holiday Toolbox",
an e-mail and web-based information page that will be on the Temple web-page
(www.adatelohim.com) and available in printed format handed out on Sunday
mornings at our Sunday Social, from 9:00am to 10:00am, to coincide with the
K-3rd grade Sunday school schedule so parents can stay for coffee and chat for
a while during the time their children are in class. This informal 'drop-in'
opportunity will be held in the Youth Lounge.
